EKU Alphabet Center is a resource center led by activist dedicated to providing a safe and affirming space for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and all students, faculty, and staff. Our mission is being a source of sanctuary for students, faculty, and staff at Eastern Kentucky University. The physical space is located in the basement of Miller Hall. Inside our space is cozy lounge area with a computer station nearby. We also have a magazine rack and shelf, which holds an array of LGBTQ magazines and pamphlets on suicide prevention, coming out, etc. Our space also includes a lending library with literature regarding a range of LGBTQ issues. Our last integral station in the center is the check-in desk. The Alphabet Center acts as one local headquarter in the advancement of LGBTQ civil rights. We strive to break barriers, stereotypes, and reach equality within our campus, community, state, and nation.
